GARDEN OF SHADOWS (USA/MD)

Mystically inspired epic Death Metal from Maryland with evident influences directly culled from the Greek Metal scene. The band previously operated under the guise of FUNERAL OPERA. GARDEN OF SHADOWS, who employ female ex-BIOVORE guitarist Mary, came into being during 1995 but would soon after dispense with their rhythm section of bass player Dave and drummer Kevin. Former SADISTIC TORMENT man Bret took the drumming position. In 1997 the band cut the demo 'Heart Of The Corona' after which new bass player Sean was inducted. He too soon decamped to be superseded by Owen to record the eight and a half minute track 'Shards Of The Sphere'. This song would be added to the original demo recordings for a CD release on X Rated Records. Owen would switch to guitar as keyboard player Scott left. Further fluctuations in the line up witnessed the departure of Owen and the reenlistment of Sean on bass. Signing to the British Wicked World label, a subsidiary of the Earache concern, GARDEN OF SHADOWS set to work on the 'Oracle Moon' album.
